When used as a macro-etchant, immerse specimen in the solution at room temperature for a few minutes. Rinse in water and dry.

Description

This product is used as a micro-etchant to reveal the general structure of Pure Copper, Cu-Al (aluminum bronze) and Copper Alloys as well as Ni-Ag and Ni-Cu alloys.

When used as a macro-etchant this product will produce good grain contrast in Copper and all brass samples.

This product is specified in ISO16060: Destructive tests on welds in metallic materials — Etchants for macroscopic and microscopic examination.

As a macro-etch for Stainless Steel, use 600 grit or finer and immerse sample for between 5-60 seconds- check by eye. Used in this way this product is a good general purpose macroscopic etchant, for austenitic chromium nickel and other stainless steels.
