Description

This product is used as a micro-etch to reveal the general structure of Chromium Steel, 400, 300 and 200 type steels. It is also indicated as a general etch for superalloy steels.

This product is used by immersing or swabbing the specimen with the etchant for a few seconds up to few minutes depending upon the the type of material being investigated. Where longer exposure times are used, a higher percentage of Hydrochloric will minimize the pitting on the specimen.

Top Tip: A hot water rinse just prior to etching may be used to activate the reaction.

Sometimes a few passes on the final polishing wheel is also necessary to remove a passive surface.

Important: Do not store. Properly discard this solution before it attains a dark orange colour.
