G-Reagent, also known as El-1R solution can be used to reveal the general structure of high Nickel-Iron based alloys.
It can also be used to reveal the γ-precipitate of high temperature steels, or the microstructural inhomogeneity of Superalloys. This solution can also be used to reveal the submicroscopic structure in aged Superalloys particularly for electron microscopy.
It stains the matrix when γ-precipitates are present.
