This solution reveals the general structure of Cobalt Hard-facing and tool metals. This solution is also used for phase identification in high-temperature Cobalt alloys.
Solution B can be used, on its own, for differential matrix and non-metallic staining of Superalloys.
Immerse in freshly mixed solution of A+B (1:1) for between 5 and 10 seconds. If surface activation is necessary, first use etch E407018, then rinse in water. While still wet immerse in solutions A+B (1:1).
Mixture of solution A + B has a fifteen minute useful life.
Please note: that Potassium Permanganate is an aggressive staining agent.
